Hackensack, New Jersey (March 10, 2005)—Sharsheret, a national not-for-profit organization supporting Jewish women facing breast cancer, will pay tribute to the mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends who have touched the lives of breast cancer survivors at their Annual Benefit Luncheon on Sunday, May 15th. The event is expected to attract more than 500 guests at the Sheraton Meadowlands Hotel in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Founding Board Member Dr. Karin Katz of New York City will be Sharsheret’s Guest of Honor. Dr. Katz, a breast cancer survivor, is the mother of three children. Mrs. Dena Feigenbaum, a Sharsheret volunteer from Teaneck, New Jersey, will be the inaugural recipient of the Lisa Altman Volunteer Tribute Award. Executive Director Rochelle Shoretz and Benefit Chairs Mrs. Audrey Lookstein (of New York City) and Mrs. Nikki Sausen (of Teaneck) will deliver greetings. The Benefit will also include a silent auction, video presentation, and an introduction to new Sharsheret programs supporting Jewish women facing breast cancer nationwide.

Since the organization’s founding in 2001, Sharsheret has received over 3,500 phone calls from women affected by breast cancer, women’s organizations, health care professionals, and others from across the country. Sharsheret’s services include:

· The Link Program, a peer support network connecting young women newly diagnosed or at high risk of developing breast cancer with others who share similar diagnoses and experiences.
· Education and Outreach Programs, including health care symposia addressing the concerns of women facing breast cancer. Recent events addressed the subjects of breast cancer and fertility, the care of young children with a parent living with breast cancer, and breast cancer genetics. Transcripts of those events are available on Sharsheret’s website, www.sharsheret.org.
· Quality of Life Programs that enhance the quality of life for young women living with breast cancer, including Busy Box for young parents facing breast cancer and Best Face Forward to address the cosmetic side effects of treatment.
