Honoring The Women Who Have Touched Our Lives At Sharsheret’s Annual Benefit Luncheon

Teaneck, New Jersey (March 27, 2006)—Sharsheret, a national not-for-profit organization supporting Jewish women facing breast cancer, will honor the mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends who have touched the lives of breast cancer survivors at its third Annual Benefit Luncheon to be held on Sunday, May 7th. The event will attract more than 500 guests at the Sheraton Meadowlands Hotel in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Benefit Chairs this year include Terri Herenstein (of Lawrence, NY), Nikki Sausen (of Bergen County, NJ), and Naomi Spira (of Riverdale, NY). Executive Director Rochelle Shoretz will recognize the strong dedication and valuable contributions of Reva Borgen, Guest of Honor, and Sharon Herenstein, recipient of the Lisa Altman Volunteer Tribute Award. The Benefit will also include a silent auction, a video presentation, and an introduction to new Sharsheret programs supporting Jewish women facing breast cancer nationwide.

About Sharsheret

Since the organization’s founding in 2001, Sharsheret has received more than 8,000 phone calls from those affected by breast cancer, health care professionals, women’s organizations, Jewish organizations, and others interested in learning more about the important services Sharsheret provides nationwide.

Sharsheret has developed three core programs in response to the needs of young Jewish women facing breast cancer: The Link Program, a peer support network connecting young women newly diagnosed or at high risk of developing breast cancer with others who share similar diagnoses and experiences, Education and Outreach Programs, including health care symposia addressing the concerns of young women facing breast cancer, and Quality of Life Programs, including the Busy Box for young parents facing breast cancer, Best Face Forward to address the cosmetic side effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatments, and Embrace, a support program for women living with advanced breast cancer.
