Sharsheret To Present Free National Teleconference Surviving Breast Cancer: Facing the Challenge

Teaneck, New Jersey (October 6, 2008) — Sharsheret, a national not-for-profit organization supporting young Jewish women facing breast cancer, will present a free national teleconference, “Surviving Breast Cancer: Facing the Challenge,” Wednesday, November 12, 2008, 8:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. (EST). A written transcript of the teleconference will be posted online after the event at www.sharsheret.org.

“Survivorship has become an important subject of recent research, as more women live longer lives beyond breast cancer treatment,” said Clinical Supervisor Shera Dubitsky. “Sharsheret’s survivorship teleconference will empower women calling Sharsheret for support, with critical information they can use on the new journey that begins when treatment ends.”

Panelists include Dr. Tessa Cigler, (MPH, Assistant Professor of Medicine, Weill Cornell Medical Center, Attending Physician, New York-Presbyterian Hospital), Shera Dubitsky, M.Ed., M.A., (Clinical Supervisor, Sharsheret), Shelly Lewis, Author, (five lessons I didn’t learn from breast cancer (and One Big One I Did)) and Dr. Ruth Oratz, (FACP, The Women’s Oncology & Wellness Practice). Panelists will present topics including, The New Normal: Life After Breast Cancer, Long -Term Side Effects From Breast Cancer Treatments, Emerging Research On Post-Treatment Options Psychosocial Issues and the Impact on the Cultural Practices of Jewish Women. There will also be an opportunity to pose questions during a question and answer session. All participants will remain anonymous.
