CHAMPIONS OF HOPE

Shellie Davis, Efrat
Since making Israel her home in 1999, Shellie Davis has become a driving force for community engagement and support in Efrat. As Chair of Sharsheret’s Efrat chapter and a member of the Community Advisory Committee, she plays a pivotal role in bringing Sharsheret to Efrat, helping establish a strong network of education, awareness, and support from the organization’s earliest days in Israel.

Shellie is a passionate advocate for the belief that knowledge saves lives. She is committed to empowering individuals through education, promoting awareness of genetic testing, and encouraging proactive health decisions. Through her leadership, vision, and ability to mobilize those around her, she has inspired a culture of care, ensuring that community members show up for one another and take an active role in safeguarding their health and well-being.

Pamela Laufer-Ukeles, Ra’anana
A breast cancer survivor, and devoted tennis player, Pam knows firsthand how the game can give back a sense of strength. In her words: “After the shock of diagnosis and the vulnerability of extended breast cancer treatment, tennis made me feel healthy and strong. It gave me confidence in my body and my ability to persevere.” For Pam, playing in Sharsheret’s first tennis tournament in Israel, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, is a chance to share her story and her love of the game, and to help grow the kind of support, education, and community that can change what a diagnosis means for a woman and her family.
