Teaneck, New Jersey (Dec 4, 2018) – Sharsheret, the only national not-for-profit organization dedicated to addressing the needs of women and families, of all Jewish backgrounds, facing breast and ovarian cancer, is proud to announce the expansion of their National Board of Directors as they welcome two new board members, Dr. Tammy Bryk and Dr. Martin Rosman.

Tammy, a retired orthodontist from Queens, New York, is an active Sharsheret volunteer who often serves as a peer supporter for women with breast cancer, races with Team Sharsheret, and chairs major Sharsheret fundraising events. Together with her husband, Hillel, the Bryks are members of the Sharsheret Jewel Circle and are lead gifts in Rochelle’s Dream, a campaign for Sharsheret’s future.

Dr. Martin Rosman, a retired oncologist from Edgewater, Maryland and Sarasota, Florida, served as Director of the Breast Cancer Research Group at the Anne Arundel Medical Center Breast Center in Annapolis, Maryland. Together with his wife, Grace, they have been active members of the American Technion Society boards nationally and in Washington, D.C.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Tammy Bryk and Dr. Martin Rosman to our Board,” said Sharsheret’s Board of Directors President Jonathan Blinken. “Dr. Rosman’s impressive medical career and oncology background and Tammy’s deep connection to and passion for helping secure Sharsheret’s future make them exciting new additions to our Board that will help guide our efforts locally and across the country, saving more lives with greater awareness and improving more lives with expanded support.”

ABOUT SHARSHERET

Sharsheret, Hebrew for chain, a national cancer organization with three offices (California, Florida, and New Jersey), serves 120,000 women, families, health care professionals, community leaders, and students, in all 50 states. Sharsheret creates a safe community for women facing breast cancer and ovarian cancer and their families at every stage of life and at every stage of cancer – from before diagnosis, during treatment and into the survivorship years. While our expertise is focused on young women and Jewish families, more than 15% of those we serve are not Jewish. All Sharsheret programs serve all women and men.

As a premier organization for psychosocial support, Sharsheret is a member of the Federal Advisory Committee on Breast Cancer in Young Women, works closely with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and participates in psychosocial research studies and evaluations with major cancer centers, including Georgetown University Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.
