SUMMARY:Camp Lavi Challah Bake 2026
DESCRIPTION:As part of Camp Lavi’s continued commitment to chesed and raising awareness\, girls campus will once again lead a Sharsheret pink challah bake. The baking of challah is a tradition deeply rooted in our culture and one that has been happening for hundreds of years. On July 10th\, our campers will bake challah for Shabbat and join together in heartfelt tefillot for a refuah shlema for all those in need. \nThis year’s camp theme\, The Legacy Continues\, highlights the power of passing down values\, traditions\, and life-saving knowledge. Sharsheret’s mission aligns beautifully with this theme as Sharsheret is dedicated to empowering the next generation with critical health awareness. Through age appropriate conversations\, one can begin to learn the tools to protect their health —impacting not only their own lives but future generations as well. \nWe invite you to sponsor your child’s participation in this special event. 100% of the proceeds will benefit Sharsheret’s life saving programs in both the United States and Israel. Through these programs\, Sharsheret provides emotional support and mental health counseling\, education\, financial assistance\, and peer support to those faced with or at increased genetic risk of breast cancer and ovarian cancer. All of Sharsheret’s services are free\, confidential\, and open to anyone in need. \nBy participating in this meaningful event\, our campers will gain a deeper understanding of the role this incredible organization plays within the Jewish community. Together\, with your support we will help Sharsheret raise awareness and save lives. \nIf you want to sponsor your child\, click here. \nThank you\, \nCamp Lavi Team \nFor more information about Sharsheret\, visit www.sharsheret.org or contact Ellen Kleinhaus\, Chief National Engagement Officer\, at ekleinhaus@sharsheret.org.

SUMMARY:Spirituality As An Essential Healing Tool in the Cancer Experience - A Training for Chaplains and Rabbis
DESCRIPTION:Chaplains and rabbis in all professional roles are invited to join Sharsheret for a free\, one-hour training on the essential role spirituality plays in healing during and beyond cancer. \nStudies have clearly established that spiritual well-being during a cancer experience leads to better quality of life\, including lower levels of depression and less anxiety and overall distress. Yet not all patients understand the importance of spiritual well-being (whether one is religious or not)\, and many oncology professionals are uncomfortable broaching the topic. This interactive presentation will explore the integration of spiritual support into more familiar interventions. We will begin with an expanded definition of spiritualty and review of the significant impact of spiritual support. Then together we will explore the barriers that prevent spiritual support from the perspective of the patient\, and will examine assessment tools\, and discuss an array of cultural and spiritual beliefs surrounding illness and how those beliefs may impact diagnosis\, treatment\, and survivorship. \nNAJC Board Certified Chaplains may claim one hour of continuing education in Methodology 1\, Attending Education Events. \nRegister here. \nQuestions? Contact Melissa Rosen\, Director of Training and Education.
