Financial Assistance – Urgent Funding Program

Sharsheret partners with The Change Reaction to provide emergency financial assistance to people facing breast and ovarian cancer and who have non-medical emergency financial needs that are a result of their cancer diagnosis. The needs that are covered include urgent financial needs that if not met will impact an individual’s day-to-day living or their ability to receive care.

To be eligible for a financial subsidy through the Change Reaction-Urgent Funding Program you must:

  • Be diagnosed with breast or ovarian cancer, or be considered high risk for breast or
    ovarian cancer, with documentation to support this from a health care provider
  • Meet our financial eligibility guidelines
  • Your grant request must be approved by The Change Reaction

Participants facing metastatic breast or advanced ovarian cancer who qualify and receive funds from Sharsheret’s financial subsidy programs, will also receive a grocery gift card. Limited funds available.

What is The Change Reaction?

The Change Reaction is an impactful approach to giving that provides direct financial support to individuals facing emergency situations.

How is Sharsheret working with The Change Reaction?

Sharsheret partners with The Change Reaction to provide emergency financial assistance to people facing breast and ovarian cancer or who are considered at high risk for breast or ovarian cancer and who
have non-medical emergency financial needs that are a result of their cancer diagnosis.

What types of needs are covered?

The needs that are covered include urgent financial needs that if not met will impact an individual’s day-to-day living or their ability to receive care.

Examples of urgent needs include but are not limited to:

  • Auto repair
  • Utilities
  • Essential household items (such as appliances)
  • Emergency home repairs (for example a water heater or furnace)
  • Mortgage or rent payments
  • Medical equipment that is not covered by insurance (such as rental of a medical recliner for recovery from surgery)
  • What are the eligibility requirements for the program?

To be eligible to apply for emergency financial assistance you must:

  • Be diagnosed with breast or ovarian cancer, or be considered high risk for breast or ovarian cancer, with documentation to support this from a health care provider
  • Have an urgent financial need that falls into a category outlined above*
  • How do I apply for the program?
  • Complete the form above
  • Speak with a Sharsheret social worker
  • Meet our financial eligibility guidelines
  • A Sharsheret social worker will submit a request to The Change Reaction for consideration
  • If you qualify for financial assistance, the grant will be paid directly to the vendor on your behalf
  • How will the grant be paid ?
  • If you qualify for financial assistance and the grant request submitted by the Sharsheret Social Worker is approved by The Change Reaction, the grant amount approved will be paid directly to the vendor on
    your behalf
  • Grant awards will not be given to you directly
  • Grant requests if approved are offered as a one-time only grant
