Cancer Primer: A Guide for Social Workers
Designed for social workers who don’t work primarily with cancer patients, this training covers an introduction to understanding cancer, the importance of psychosocial support for those facing cancer, where culture might intersect with a cancer diagnosis, how cultural nuances can impact diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship, spiritual concerns, and how a caring community and how that impacts both personal healing and the community-at-large.
- Participants will understand the role of the social worker in providing much needed psychosocial support to those impacted by cancer.
- Participants will recognize that cancer may be behind the issues that clients present in sessions.
- Participants will learn the role of culture and faith in supporting those impacted by cancer.
