Joshua G. Cohen, MD, FACOG, FACS
Medical Director, Gynecologic Cancer Program, City of Hope Orange County
Joshua G. Cohen, M.D. is a board-certified gynecologic oncologist dedicated to offering his patients in Orange County empathy and excellence in clinical care. Dr. Cohen is an expert in the surgical cytoreduction of cancer and in the use of minimally invasive surgical techniques, including robotic surgery. He values the opportunity to perform cancer surgery and oversee systemic treatment, developing a personalized treatment plan for each patient. Dr. Cohen provides a comprehensive approach to the management of gynecologic cancers including patients with genetic predispositions to these cancers. One of Dr. Cohen’s main goals is for his patients to have the tools to be actively engaged in their medical decisions, in a supportive environment, to maximize cancer care and quality of life.
A member of Sharsheret’s Western Region Community Advisory Committee and the 2024 Sharsheret West Coast Dash Grand Marshal, Josh has lent his expertise to the Sharsheret community for the past 5 years. He has been recognized by Los Angeles Magazine as one of L.A.’s Top Doctors and a Southern California Super Doctor. As Medical Director of the Gynecologic Cancer Program at the Lennar Foundation Cancer Center at City of Hope Orange County, he aims to ensure patients facing ovarian, endometrial, cervical, vulvar, and vaginal cancer receive world-class care.
Dr. Cohen attended medical school at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of California, San Francisco, where he received multiple awards including outstanding teaching resident. He then pursued a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at UCLA and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Cohen has led significant efforts in gynecologic cancer research and completed the Clinical Research Training Program at the National Institutes of Health, as well as the Clinical and Translational Science Institute certificate program at UCLA Medical Center.
An investigator with more than three dozen peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Cohen leads studies designed to improve the quality of care and outcomes for patients facing gynecologic cancer. He joined City of Hope from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, where he served as gynecologic oncology fellowship program director. Dr. Cohen is a Fellow in the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Cohen grew up in Orange County, and he considers it an honor to serve patients in the same area where he was raised. Away from the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and fraternal twins.
Seth A. Cohen, MD
Program Director, Reconstructive Urology and Survivorship Fellowship, City of Hope Orange County
Seth A. Cohen, M.D., is a urologist specializing in complex reconstruction of the pelvic floor, including fistula and pelvic organ prolapse repair.
Dr. Cohen received his medical doctorate and Bachelor of Arts degrees at Northwestern University through the prestigious Honors Program in Medical Education, which allowed for direct matriculation into medical school after three years of undergraduate work. He completed his postgraduate training in California, including an internship in the Department of Surgery at University of California San Francisco, a residency in urology at University of California San Diego and a fellowship in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery at University of California Los Angeles.
Dr. Cohen has published in a variety of medical journals on topics including mesh-associated complications, urinary incontinence and medical education.
Dr. Cohen is board certified by the American Board of Urology, with additional subspecialty certification in urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery.
Dr. Cohen is very involved in medical education, including being on faculty for City of Hope’s Reconstructive Urology Fellowship.
