The Laura Sue Fund

Laura was diagnosed with stage III ovarian cancer in July 2013. She fearlessly faced it head on and with the help of a great medical team, was in remission after 6 months of chemotherapy. The cancer returned in 2015, and once again 6 months of chemotherapy helped start her next remission, which lasted through the end of 2022. From 2022 – her death on April 26, 2024, Laura did everything the doctors recommended. She tried multiple rounds and types of chemotherapy and a final radiation therapy to target a growing nodule. Unfortunately, the cancer continued to spread and the treatments continued to fatigue and weaken her and in February, she was no longer treatable. Laura’s friends and family describe her as a true fighter. She was the symbol for good health aside from this terrible disease, playing tennis in between treatments, going to the gym, and always eating healthy. Laura was brave, strong, tough, and courageous.

Laura’s daughters, Erika Moczulewski and Julia Weiss have established the Laura Sue Fund with Sharsheret to honor her legacy. Laura had a master’s degree in public health (UCLA), and worked in the public health health field and health education for her entire career. Her daughters have chosen to allocate donations in her memory toward support of Sharsheret’s Ovarian Cancer Patient Support and Community Education fund. We hope this support can provide education to help women identify early signs and symptoms and/or their heredity risk for Ovarian cancer, and support those who receive the unfortunate diagnosis of this disease.

Laura is forever loved, deeply missed, and will always be with us as we carry her lessons and memories along everywhere we go.
