My Journey with Triple Negative Breast Cancer

In February 2025, a routine mammogram revealed a suspicious finding. A biopsy confirmed a small tumor, and I was scheduled for a lumpectomy. I initially believed surgery, medication, and radiation would be the extent of my treatment. However, I was soon diagnosed with stage one triple negative breast cancer, and my care plan shifted. My oncologist recommended four rounds of chemotherapy, followed by radiation.
This diagnosis coincided with a joyful time in my life—my son’s engagement. Despite undergoing treatment, I was grateful to feel well enough to host his engagement party at home. Only my immediate family was aware of my diagnosis at that point.
A friend suggested I connect with Sharsheret, and that advice made a profound difference. Through Sharsheret, I was paired with a caring social worker who checked in with me regularly. Her warmth and encouragement lifted my spirits during the most difficult moments, including the loss of my hair. She also sent thoughtful care packages filled with practical and comforting items: educational resources about my diagnosis and treatment, a healthy cookbook, exercise bands, and a soft blanket and pillow that I brought to every session. Whenever I had questions, she was there with answers or guidance.
I am deeply grateful that after four rounds of chemotherapy and 15 radiation sessions, I completed treatment just one week before my son’s wedding. I am deeply grateful to Sharsheret for their support, guidance, and care throughout this journey, and I strongly encourage anyone facing a diagnosis to reach out to them.
