Teaneck, New Jersey (October 11, 2012) — Sharsheret, a national not-for-profit organization supporting young women and their families, of all Jewish backgrounds, facing breast cancer, will present a free and live roundtable discussion for women and families:

“Taking Control of Your Financial Health During and After a Health Crisis”
Wednesday, November 7, 2012, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.

A light kosher dinner will be served and an audio recording and transcript will be posted online following the event at www.sharsheret.org.

The expert panel will feature financial advisor Rena Cole, disability lawyer Gabe Hermann, insurance expert Joanna Morales, and estate planner Jodi Scherl, and will be moderated by Sharsheret’s Clinical Supervisor, Shera Dubitsky. The event will also include a Sharsheret peer supporter who will share her personal experience navigating the complicated world of financial health while she faced a serious illness. A live question and answer session will follow the presentations.

“While advances in medical technology mean Jewish women may have a better chance of physically surviving serious illness, the overwhelming financial issues associated with treatment and recovery can be devastating to their financial health, particularly during these challenging economic times,” said Director of Operations Elana Silber. “The roundtable discussion will not only equip women and families with information, but also with the tools they need to proactively address their long-term financial, insurance, and estate needs.”

Sharsheret, Hebrew for “chain”, is a national not-for-profit organization supporting young women and their families, of all Jewish backgrounds, facing breast cancer.
