A girl with long dark hair, wearing a bright pink top and braces, sits with her knees up and smiles at the camera against a blurred neutral background, perhaps brainstorming bat mitzvah project ideas.

In March of this year (2025) my aunt was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer at the age of 39. I wanted to do something that was meaningful to her in her journey. Doing something close to her made me feel closer to my aunt. My aunt found Sharsheret towards the beginning of her diagnosis and since then has felt such a sense of community and a place where she can go for guidance and support. One of her favorite parts of joining Sharsheret was a care package that she got delivered to her. I have been making bracelets that now will also be apart of the care packages new members receive. They all have pink beads, breast cancer awareness beads, words of strength, encouragement, hope, that were made with love from me. I hope that my bracelets are able to put a smile on the faces of the new members. xo, Ellie

“Watching Ellie make these bracelets has made us so proud of her. She has spent many hours beading to help bring a smile to someone in need.”
