Finding a New Normal
As I sit back and reflect on the past 3 years since being diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, I realize that it is the first time that I feel like my old self pre-cancer. Looking back, everything seemed so blurry–I was in survival mode and trying to stay ahead of what needed to be done just to stay alive and healthy. I am the kind of person that always looks forward to what’s to come; I needed to know there would be a time where I could breathe and feel “normal” again. As I was trying to find my new “normal,” I was fortunate to find Sharsheret through a recommendation in one of the Facebook groups I joined. As I was still navigating my diagnosis, I reached out and was put in touch with Bonnie Beckoff. We immediately clicked–she asked all the right questions, and I loved her positive attitude. I live my life on a daily basis with a positive outlook, so I needed to connect with someone like that. She always takes the time to check in and ask if there’s anything she can do to be supportive. I love all the different resources Sharsheret offers–from painting classes to makeup tutorials–it’s the little things that make such a huge difference in my everyday struggle.
