I Run In Memory Of My Grandmother
I am motivated and inspired to undertake this rigorous challenge running in the 2018 New York City Marathon as I am doing it in support of an amazing organization – Sharsheret, a national not-for-profit organization supporting women and families, of all Jewish backgrounds, facing breast and ovarian cancer at every stage—before, during, and after diagnosis.
It is particularly meaningful for me to race on behalf of Sharsheret because I will be running & fundraising in memory of my amazing Grandma, Mary Friedman Z”L, who passed away last year after her battle with cancer. She always encouraged my athletic endeavors, attended all of my sporting events, and pushed me to never give up. She was especially concerned that I should always be well equipped by wearing the latest athletic fashions.
I had been involved in Sharsheret throughout college, at Yeshiva University, and had the privilege to see the life-changing work and support that Sharsheret provides for women around the world.
As a member of this incredible Team, I have raised funds in support of Sharsheret’s breast cancer and ovarian cancer programs and services.
