My Bat Mitzvah Project for Sharsheret
For my mitzvah project, I have decided to work with Sharsheret. Sharsheret, a national non-profit organization, improves the lives of Jewish women and families living with or at increased genetic risk for breast or ovarian cancer through personalized support and saves lives through educational outreach.
Sharsheret is an amazing organization that has helped my family and many others.
When I was two years old my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was hard on my mom and my family but Sharsheret made our experience easier. Sharsheret supported my mom though treatments and surgeries, and sent us a “Busy Box” which contains toys and activities that my mom could do with my sister and I while she was in bed recovering from surgery or treatment.
Now it is my turn to return the favor. I have been able to volunteer at many of the organization’s local events, and now I have chosen the organization for people to donate to in honor of my Bat Mitzvah.
