My Pies For Prevention Thanksgiving Tradition In Israel
I’ve been participating in the Sharsheret Pies for Prevention for several years now, and initially got started because I love the people behind this project and the idea of remembering Steffi Sussman in this very special way. I also love Thanksgiving, having celebrated it for my entire life, even after moving to Israel nearly 24 years ago, where I’ve continued celebrating it with family and friends each year. Now our Thanksgiving traditions include the week prior, when our home is filled with the scents of pumpkin and cloves, although we have to schlep fresh cranberries from the US, and scour the city for pie shells and pumpkin filling. But we do it with love, and now I’m joined by other friends and family who also want to partake in this very special fundraiser, whether by shopping, baking or buying, and, eventually, eating.
