Ruth Oratz, M.D.

Ruth Oratz is Clinical Professor of Medicine at NYU School of Medicine, NYU Langone Health, where she practices and teaches. She is a medical oncologist at the NYU Perlmutter Cancer Center,  specializing in the care of people with and at risk for breast cancer. Dr. Oratz has a particular interest in hereditary cancer syndromes.  She is involved in clinical trials and is active academically.  Dr. Oratz  is especially committed to helping the individual with cancer continue to live life actively and fully, placing significant attention to concerns about family life,  career, relationships and sexuality. 

Dr. Oratz is also advisor to several national advocacy organizations, including breastcancer.org, Living Beyond Breast Cancer, CancerCare, Young Survival Coalition, CancerandCareers, Moving For Life and Sharsheret.  Dr. Oratz served as Chair of the Medical Advisory Board of Susan G. Komen, Greater NYC, and was on the National Board of the YWCA, USA. She was named “Physician of the Year” by CancerCare. Dr. Oratz has been recognized for many years in “The Best Doctors in America” and “The Best Doctors in NYC.” She is active both locally and nationally as a speaker and healthcare educator, appearing on television and radio, as well as lecturing to the public.
